AFTER THE EVENT LITIGATION INSURANCE
What is it?
After-the-Event Litigation Insurance is a relatively new type of insurance that protects a claimant when or after that person or entity becomes aware of the need to litigate to protect their interests. The policy covers the claimant against substantial costs should the litigation prove unsuccessful.
How can ULP help?
Universal Legal Protection Ltd's (ULP's) role is to help the claimant client by acting as their broker.
ULP is not an Insurer or Underwriting Agency (underwriting on behalf of a particular Insurer or panel of Insurers), however we have access to most, if not all of the Insurers, Lloyd's Underwriters and Underwriting Agencies who underwrite this class of business.
ULP is continually striving to introduce new Insurers in to the legal expenses insurance market.
What services does ULP perform?
ULP will obtain the best/right After the -Event insurance policy for the claimant client of the Solicitor. ULP is well placed to judge whether the terms being imposed by the different Insurers are reasonable or whether they should be further negotiated. If a risk is declined, ULP is again well placed to judge whether such declinature is fair or whether further attempts should be made to encourage Insurers to offer terms.
Why should Solicitors consider using ULP?
If a Solicitor approaches an Insurer or Underwriting Agency direct, how can they be sure they are approaching the most appropriate market for After-the-Event Litigation Insurance cover? By utilising the services of ULP - a specialist independent legal expenses insurance broker - the Solicitor is removed from the whole issue of best or most appropriate advice because that burden passes to ULP.
